Tips for your successful career website
How do you set up your career website?
To that end, we worked with the HSMA Expert Group on E-Commerce, CRM & Marketing to develop the following content for a career one-pager. The suggested focus areas may vary depending on the company. We have presented the content we developed in its
schematic structure and relevance by working students from various hotel companies.
Feel free to use the content sections listed here as a guide for creating your own career website or as a basis for your agency’s briefing.
- Emotional header
- Introductory text
- Kununu widget, or similar
- Stores & Outlets
- Vacancies with contact person
- Benefits
- Company presentation
- Values & Vision
- Video
- Career & Success Stories
There are two ways to set up a career website: as a subpage within the existing hotel website or as a one-page site with its own domain.
To improve your online visibility, we recommend setting up a standalone website with an appropriate domain or subdomain, such as karriere.themandala.de. This career website should, in turn, be featured and linked to on the hotel’s website, ideally prominently in the header. This will help improve your SEO performance.
Speaking of SEO, it is of course important to continuously optimize the organic findability of this website as well.
To ensure that the second website—in addition to the hotel website—doesn't exceed the budget, SaaS solutions like hellohotel are ideal. This allows you to set up the website on your own and launch it with minimal time investment.
Conversion on the website
There are various ways to generate a conversion on the website.
You probably already know this from your hotel website. Usability plays an important role here, as does ease of access for users.
The best way to generate leads—in this case, applicants—is directly through your website using a contact form. This gives you control over the data you receive and allows you to determine which information is submitted. Keep the barrier to entry as low as possible; often, basic contact information—such as first and last name, phone number, and email address—is sufficient.
Of course, there are also solutions from third-party providers for the application process. Here it depends on what budget you have available and how you can handle the job advertisements and applications in the company.
The hotelcareer portal website, for example, provides an iFrame that can be integrated into the website. This allows applicants to apply directly for the advertised position and you can process the applications received via your login.
However, if you are broadly positioned in the HR sector, want to use many career portals and need a smart solution for the website, we recommend the Connectoor solution, for example. Similar to hotelcareer, it can be used to integrate job advertisements into the website and manage applications. The advantage here is that you can create a job and post it on a number of portals such as indeed, Google Jobs, hotelcareer and many more.
