What exactly is the BAFA grant?
The BAFA Business Consulting Program is a government funding program for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs). Depending on the company’s location, the government covers 50% or 80% of eligible consulting costs. The goal is to support companies in their strategic development—for example, in the areas of digitalization, marketing, or corporate strategy.
Which services related to my new hotel website are eligible for funding—and which are not?
Eligible for funding are strategic and conceptual services, such as the development of a website strategy, page structure, user navigation, design concepts, positioning, and recommendations regarding SEO, AI visibility (GEO), or digital systems.
The subsequent implementation—such as the technical development of the website, programming, or other operational services—is not eligible for funding.
Is my hotel even eligible for funding?
The odds are very good if your hotel is based in Germany, is a legally independent entity, and meets the EU’s SME criteria (fewer than 250 employees and annual revenue of no more than 50 million euros). We’d be happy to work with you to determine whether your hotel meets these requirements during a no-obligation introductory meeting.
How much is the subsidy for my hotel?
Consulting costs of up to €3,500 are eligible for funding per grant application. Depending on the company’s location, the grant covers 50% or 80% of these costs—that is, up to €1,750 or €2,800.
When will I receive the grant?
Consulting fees are initially paid as usual. Once the consulting services are completed and the BAFA has successfully reviewed the application, the grant is disbursed, typically within six to eight weeks.
Can I take advantage of the BAFA grant more than once?
Yes. Under the current funding guidelines, up to two funded consulting engagements are permitted per year. Since a consulting engagement can last up to five consulting days, it makes sense to divide larger projects into several consecutive consulting engagements that build on one another.
Is the application for the grant very complicated and time-consuming?
No. We handle most of the grant application process for you. We take care of the necessary paperwork, prepare the applications, and guide you through the entire process. You review and approve the prepared documents—we’ll take care of the rest.
