The challenge

The RIMC Hotels & Resorts Group, based in Hamburg, is one of the leading international hotel companies and has successfully realized hotel projects in Germany and abroad over the last 30 years. The group's idea of operating and, if necessary, revitalizing hotels with tailor-made management solutions has been a great success. The RIMC Group's diverse portfolio of business hotels, city hotels and vacation hotels in various categories is currently a healthy and promising mix of hotel products, which should be presented in the best possible way on the new hotel group website.

A modern, yet classic design was desired. A serious and not playful style, without running the risk of appearing boring or even old-fashioned.

The RIMC Group is growing rapidly, which is why the editors' requirements for the new hotel group website are anything but atypical. A high degree of flexibility for quick and easy content maintenance was the focus of the briefing. For example, when a new hotel is integrated into the company and presented on the website. Of course, the client's and our own demands are very high in terms of the performance and loading speed of the mobile and desktop versions of the hotel website. Last but not least, the recognition of the RIMC corporate design on the website was the core of the design work.

The XPORT solution

The new, asymmetrical layout creates excitement and gives the RIMC Group's hotel website a dynamic feel. It is created above all by large headlines that are positioned unconventionally. The color areas for backgrounds break up the usual blue and white structure of the RIMC-CD. The subtle, warm colors provide a nice contrast. Without calling the seriousness of the company into question.

We create subtle size through the enormous width of the font and the largest possible images. They serve as a focus for the website user and are simultaneously perceived as a statement.

Special feature

The intelligent filter on the "Hotels" subpage allows users to quickly and easily differentiate between RIMC's own brands and franchise brands. They can display the group's hotels as a list or map. The image preview for each hotel has been enhanced with icons. They categorize the hotel type according to wellness, mice, proximity to the beach, etc. Once the website visitor has made a choice, they use the quick booker with image preview and are linked to the selected hotel.

In order to reduce costs, we use the provider OpenStreetMap instead of the usual Google Maps to display the locations.

Naturally responsive

The RIMC Group website is of course responsive optimized. This is achieved, among other things, by several breakpoints from the display on large screens to tablet and small smartphone display sizes. The focus is on intuitive use of the site. This avoids the user feeling: "I have to look at this again on the desktop."

The loading time of the hotel website can hardly be improved for display on desktops. It currently stands at 99 out of a possible 100 points.

Mobile loading speed is still a challenge for us. The values fluctuate between 60 and 75 out of 100 points.
